Overview

The Data Product Owner is responsible for driving the product vision and execution for the Promo Price Optimization platform. This role serves as the key interface between business strategy, data science, and development teams, translating complex business and analytical needs into a clear, actionable roadmap for a platform that generates highly impactful results for the company.

 

Primary Location: Across Canada

Work Model: Hybrid 3-4 Days Onsite (Brampton)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and manage the product backlog for the promotion price optimization platform, focusing on the creation of new user features, continuous data model integration and enhancement, and platform scalability
  • Translate requirements from data science, merchandising, and other business units into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams
  • Own and manage the product roadmap, prioritizing features and technical enhancements to deliver maximum business value and system performance
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including software development, analytics, and merchandising to align product strategy and execution
  • Communicate complex analytical models and technical platform capabilities to non-technical stakeholders to demonstrate business value
  • Make data-informed trade-offs between new features, model improvements, and technical debt to ensure the platform’s long-term health and effectiveness

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally with a background in data-intensive, analytical, or platform-as-a-product environments
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience managing product backlogs and translating complex requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Experience working with data-heavy products and a solid grasp of data science concepts and data pipelines
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to align priorities across technical (Software Development, Analytics) and business-focused (Merchandising) teams
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize features, model improvements, and technical enhancements to maximize business value
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservice architecture
  • Experience working with cloud-based platforms, particularly GCP
  • Experience supporting pricing, merchandising, or optimization-related platforms or products
