Overview

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) serves as the critical bridge between business vision and technical execution for the Promo Price Optimization platform. In this role, you will analyze, define, and translate complex business and data science requirements into clear functional specifications that guide development and analytics teams.

 

Working closely with Product Owners, developers, and project stakeholders, you will ensure that solutions are accurately designed, built, and validated to meet business objectives. This role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex business rules and technical constraints across cross-functional teams within an Agile delivery environment.

 

Primary Location: Across Canada 

Work Model: Hybrid 3-4 Days Onsite (Brampton)

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Analyze and translate high-level business requirements from the Product Owner into detailed functional specifications, process flows, and comprehensive user stories
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to clarify requirements, define API contracts, specify data transformation logic, and resolve ambiguities during sprint execution
  • Define precise acceptance criteria and support validation and testing activities to ensure delivered solutions align with business logic and requirements
  • Partner with technical teams to document system interactions, data flows, and integration points across the Promo Price Optimization platform
  • Facilitate collaboration between business, product, and development teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements and expected outcomes
  • Communicate complex business rules to technical teams while translating technical constraints and considerations back to business stakeholders
  • Support Agile delivery processes by participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and other key ceremonies

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid industry experience (at least 3 years) as a Business Systems Analyst or Technical Analyst
  • Experience working on data-intensive or analytical software projects, preferably within an Agile framework
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data analysis, validation, and understanding underlying data models
  • High proficiency with Jira and Confluence for managing user stories, specifications, and project documentation
  • Experience documenting RESTful APIs (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI) and creating data flow diagrams to map complex system interactions
  • Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and the role of a BSA in supporting the development lifecycle
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to deconstruct complex business processes into clear and manageable components for development
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between business stakeholders and technical teams
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure requirements are unambiguous, comprehensive, and logically consistent
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working closely with Product Owners, Project Managers, Program Managers, and development teams

NICE TO HAVE 

  • Exposure to or experience using Python for data analysis
  • Experience supporting data-heavy platforms, analytics products, or pricing/optimization systems
