RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze the current state and identify/document gaps between the current state and business requirements
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business processes and refine business requirements
- Contribute towards technical presales efforts, shaping cloud strategy and solution proposals
- Define the future state solution architecture, ensuring it meets security, availability, and business needs
- Develop and define future state data architecture and models aligned with business objectives
- Outline high-level steps, plans, and resource requirements necessary to achieve the future state
- Complete customer-required specifications for requirements, architecture, and design to secure solution approval from all stakeholders
- Establish governance processes to ensure the effective adoption and maintenance of solutions
- Develop and enforce best practices for consistent development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions
- Lead and manage teams through the entire solution development and delivery lifecycle
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and changes
- Effectively manage and resolve issues that arise during the solution life cycle blocking developer progression
- Stay informed about the latest technology developments and maintain a "trusted advisor" role with stakeholders
- Estimate software and service pricing related to solution design and implementation
- Technical Communication: Capably explain technical projects and their business impact to management and non-technical stakeholders
- Conduct assessments, identify bottlenecks and gaps in infrastructure, recommend improvements, and implement changes
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Formal education in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
- A minimum of 3+ years of experience architecting solutions on Databricks.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a Data Engineering or Data Architect role, demonstrating deep technical knowledge and leadership in data solutions
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling, demonstrating strong analytical and design capabilities
- Experience with SQL, including DDL, DML, optimizing, and implementing security measures
- Hands-on expertise with Lakehouse and Data Warehouse technologies, including experience in optimizing data access for speed, reliability, and business-driven velocity
- Proven track record in implementing and leading cloud migration projects, displaying deep understanding of the associated challenges and best practices
- Experience with various cloud deployment models, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Hybrid environments
- Expert-level proficiency with Azure Databricks including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow, Lakebridge, Delta Sharing, AI Genie.
- Energetic and results-oriented, with a proven ability to leverage technology to meet business objectives, improve processes, and deliver efficiencies
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with a strong initiative to drive ongoing optimization and business improvements
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with onshore and offshore teams
NICE TO HAVE
- Previous experience in technical presales for data solutions, able to articulate business value and build client trust
- One or more Databricks certifications would be an asset
- Proficiency in Python, R, Scala, or similar scripting languages
- Expert-level proficiency in one of Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric
- Azure and/or AWS certifications
