Looking for an opportunity to use your expertise in groundbreaking data and analytics initiatives?  Well, here is your chance!  As a Data Engineer with Adastra, you will serve as part of an elite team that is defining what data can contribute to a business. In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of data processing pipelines, leveraging SQL, Python and GCP technology. If you possess a formidable background in data architecture, ETL/ELT methodologies, and an innate passion for driving robust and unique solutions, we cannot wait to meet you.

 

Location: Hybrid (3 days per week in Brampton, ON)

Status: Contract

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize data processing pipelines to extract, transform, and load large volumes of data using BigQuery, Dataflow, and other GCP tools
  • Create and maintain documentation for ETL processes, data models, and data dictionaries to support team members and end-users
  • Utilize strong SQL and Python skills to query and manipulate data effectively
  • Implement workflow orchestration using Airflow and Composer to schedule and manage data pipeline tasks
  • Optimize the performance of solutions and resolve any data-related issues
  • Implement data governance policies and best practices to ensure data security, compliance, and privacy are maintained
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to identify and resolve performance issues and bottlenecks
  • Monitor data access and maintain audit trails to track changes and ensure data integrity

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Senior- or Lead-level experience as a Data Engineer in a GCP environment
  • Strong experience working with SQL and Python in a programming, scripting, and data engineering capacity
  • Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Airflow, Composer, and Dataflow in a production environment
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience designing and optimizing data pipelines in GCP
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking, and an analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information to diverse stakeholders
